Where Do Cats Sleep?
Cats can be comfortable sleeping anyplace and they sleep a lot! They take small naps or long naps wherever or whenever they feel like it. It seems that they mostly enjoy curling up in a ball and catching zzz’s. Any basket, box, chair, or sofa will do for a short nap during the day.
Several of my cats have made a habit of taking long naps or doing serious sleeping in clothes closets and under beds in the house. If you don’t see your cat for several hours, you can bet that they are under the bed or in a closet. If you are sure they didn’t get outside, don’t worry about them because they will come out again when they complete their nap.
My cats have enjoyed napping on top of things like my sewing machine, the refrigerator, TV or on the mantle over the fireplace. They also like to sleep on top of their climbing structure or kitty condo. They seem to know to get out of the way usually and don’t sleep in a pathway where they can be stepped on or tripped over like dogs do.
Cats don’t need a special bed, they need beds…several. If you don’t want your feline friend walking on your computer keys while you work, you should fix a bed on the desk by your computer. Then they will sleep in this bed all day while you work. You can enjoy a little kitty love or a purring massage every now and then for stress reduction while you work.
Oh yes, you might have figured it out by now, cats are nocturnal. They sleep during the day and stay up prowling around all night. They will almost always want to sleep on the foot of the bed when you go to bed but will keep you awake by purring and grooming themselves. And their alarm clock goes off early too. Don’t be surprised to be waked up by a rough tongue licking your eyelid, lips or cheek. Oh my, what interesting creatures. Hugs, Rosalyn
